Christie Falls Offers Great Views

Christie Falls is a popular hike to a waterfall located just north of Ladysmith.
It’s a fairly short but steep hike up to the falls.
There are two sets of falls, three if you take the steepest trail (with a rope) up past the second falls.
It’s a 7.1 km. loop trail that is considered moderately challenging, taking an average of  1 hr, 51 minutes to complete for the main waterfall.
The hike starts along a deactivated logging road, follow the signs to the trail to the waterfall.
It’s fairly easy for experienced hikers but still a workout as the trail is steep for part of the way. The first set of waterfalls is nice to look at but you will want to continue crossing a log bridge with a rope handle to get to the main waterfall.
That will take you to the spectacular Christie Falls.
If you are adventurous, don’t stop there. To your left you can continue up past the waterfall to the top, where you will see a second set of waterfalls thundering over the edge that is Christie Falls.
Ease your way carefully back down to the main waterfall. Then taking the trail down you can take an alternate trail on the right that takes you to an old log cabin, which is fun to explore.
The trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail and is open year round and quite popular to visit.
Wear good hiking shoes and watch for slippery sections in the spring, fall and winter months.
Many people often continue to Camas Ridge to extend their hike another 3 km. Spring is the best time to visit as the wildflowers are abundant, especially the Camas Lillies.
The photo below is of the upper falls.

Directions:
From the Trans Canada Highway turn onto Grouhel Road, then continue onto Christie Road, then left onto Arroyo Road and follow to the end.
